BD -

I have been getting near daily updates from my daughter. We are still on track for the Boise State game. Nothing like a make or break.

Not so sure your prediction of 23 October will play out but you have my full support for 18 September.

I think the question will be how well Foster reloaded the defense. On paper the running backs are beastly and it will come down to how poised Taylor can stay in the pocket under pressure. Hopefully the O line is better earlier than last year and Taylor gets his green light to run more from opportunity than need.

Should be a fun season - this will be the first time in 6 years I haven't been at Lane stadium for the home opener. Maybe I should use my GI Bill and become a Hokie?

How well do you think I would fare in poly sci or economics classes?

I think you could teach the econ classes.

Looks like we're a year away from being truly competitive, but we'll still give some folks a game this year. Other than for the elite programs (like your Hokies), we're no longer a guaranteed win - and that's saying something after the last couple of ... decades.

Georgia Tech will also be tough. Any team coached by Paul Johnson is going to be a tough running team. He worked wonders at putting Navy back on the football map and won a National Championship at Georgia Southern.

I think you are righ about the Dookies - they hung tough with the Hokies last year and made a pretty good run at it in the 4th quarter.
